Do You Podcast?

Podcasts are everywhere and are about every topic we can imagine.  The Podcasts about quilting are, of course, my favorite.  Today, however, I discovered Tara Swiger who is a business owner and a prolific Podcaster and found her podcast entitled "Stop Seeking Approval." (to build a great business).   Do you write quilt patterns?  Do you sell your quilts or quilt tops?  Do you quilt for others, either hand or machine?  Does your embroidery machine monogram (for others).    Then, you might enjoy how Tara encourages us to explore our enthusiasm.

She says right up front, "I am not here for your approval."  Say that again....over and over.....if you have any doubt that you must have approval to move forward in building your business.   Tara emphatically says that she is not here for my approval.  She is here to serve me (me being the people who love and want what she does.)  She is not here to serve anyone else....not family nor friends who don't get it.....but only the ones who want and love and need what she does.

Getting to Know You Interview #4

GETTING TO KNOW YOU INTERVIEW #4

NADINE CAIN
      QUILTERS' GUILD ACADIENNE
Silver Thimble Recipient, 2014

Nadine comes from a family of quilters with both her mother and sister sharing her passion.  She began quilting  as a way to relax and because it was something she always wanted to do.  Nadine made her first quilt 14 years ago while waiting for her first grandchild and has not stopped since.

She is a wife, mother to 3 children and grandmother to 7. Retired from a career as teacher, counselor and supervisor, Nadine has been extremely active in Quilters' Guild Acadienne since she joined in 2017.  Over the years, she has held various positions, including secretary and president and served on numerous committees.  One of these committee projects is the Challenge Quilt, offering members the opportunity to stretch their boundaries in new ways.  QGA owes much of its success as a guild to Nadine's tireless efforts to fulfill its mission.

Nadine enjoys making art and landscape quilts. Nancy Ziemann introduces you to landscape quilting and offers a video tutorial.

Another of Nadine's interests is Confetti Quilts that she explored in a class  with Noriko Endo.
Nadine's own classes on Confetti Quilts are in demand.  Explore making your own with scrap fabric.

Always challenging herself, Nadine has learned to produce extradordinary thread painted quilts.

Nancy Prince, noted Thread painting artist, offers instructional videos on this You Tube Channel.

Fabric Collage has gained popularity recently.  Learn how to make your own at this Laura Heine site.

Not one to be shy of exploring new genres, Nadine followed this trend to create her own.

Nadine's talent encompasses many forms. While creating nature in her landscape quilts allows her to use her artistic talents, she loves the orderliness and the precision of piecing regular quilts. Teaching and sharing what skills she developed over the years is one of her great joys.
The members of Quilters'  Guild Acadienne are fortunate to have such a talented quilter in their midst. Her work inspires others to try new and exciting genres.

Thank you, Nadine!
