Teresa Elberson

Getting to Know You Interview # 3

TERESA ELBERSON
Second Vice President
Quilters' Guild Acadienne

Teresa's busy life includes a husband, an adult daughter and adult son.   In 2016 she was name Director of the Lafayette Parish Library System. She volunteers in the community and has been a member of Quilters' Guild Acadienne since 2016.

Teresa's mother taught herself to sew and made most of Teresa's clothes, continuing over the years to sew for her and her daughter.  Teresa loved shopping for patterns and fabric with her mother but did not sew much until her children were grown.  Teresa's grandmother also sewed and quilted so she had the love of quilting long before taking  a class in 2012.

Beginning with traditional quilting, Teresa still prefers this genre but now includes modern colors and batiks in her stash. She enjoys quilting magazines and finding patterns online preferable to books.
Teresa likes to hand sew the bindings to the back.  This personal touch also gives her a chance to enjoy the colors and the quilt itself.

Although she quilts "by check" now, Teresa loves hand sewing and would love to one day hand quilt a small piece.

This selection of Teresa's quilts shows the variety of fabric, colors and patterns she enjoys making.

Moda offers Teresa inspiration, resources, challenges and, oh, so many free patterns.

Timeless Treasures is yet another collection that Teresa enjoys for quilting. It is a family owned business that became well known for novelty fabrics.  If you're looking for Disney characters, this is the place to shop.
