How'd you do that?

How to mount quilts on canvas?  Do you have that perfect art quilt that deserves to be spotlighted... one that needs to stand out from the crowd?   Here's the best tutorial on how to mount your quilt so it becomes a special piece of art.    Found at Wendy Hill Happenings - here's how the talented fiber artist, Judy Simmons did that!

I can also see a fragment of an heirloom quilt that's  been handed down preserved and displayed mounted on canvas.  Or what about an unfinished quilt block?  Oh, the possibilities of mounting fabric on canvas.

  1. I love this gallery style display. It really shows off a quilt as a piece of art that could go in a museum. I've done a few with a similar but more simple method. Instead of covering the canvas, just paint it (mostly the edges) with acrylic craft paint in a color that compliments the quilt. Stitch Velcro to back of quilt either by machine stitching in the ditch along the binding or by hand stitching...hint Velcro is hard to sew thru by hand, so you can machine stitch it to a slightly wider fabric strip first, then hand stitch thru fabric. Glue the other side of the Velcro onto canvas.
