Watching The Young Grow ~

Isn't life grand for those teaching the young  a new skill and responsibility all at the same time?  That's just what Polly Stacks was hoping to accomplish when she started planning the Saturday Juniors' Workshop.....A workshop that went to the dogs. A workshop that was all about sewing dog bedding for the animal shelter.

It all happened at Southside Lafayette Public Library.  Kara Chance, the assistant manager coordinated the workshop - supplying 11 new Janome sewing machines for the juniors and teens to use.  The library has even purchased an embroidery machine for their use.

Within the first 90 minutes, the 12 participants had completed 25 pet beds.   But then, with all the enthusiasm from the library staff and workshop assistants and the beautiful space they provided for the workshop, who couldn't get the job completed!

It was a successful workshop where everyone - animals included - became winners while enjoy sewing, sharing, recycling, community service and learning about one another.

Polly Stacks you and your crew are making  us proud.  Kudos to Pat Harper, Paula Payne, Phyllis Talbot, Janice Valbilt and Chloe Stacks.    Is it true that over 65 dog beds were completed using those t-shirts and pillow cases you gathered?
